Omegaverse Glossary
Educational definitions for common A/B/O and Omegaverse terminology.
These terms appear in fan fiction and quizzes. Definitions vary by author — treat this as a general reference, not universal canon.
Alpha
In Omegaverse fiction, Alpha is often portrayed as a dominant dynamic associated with leadership, protectiveness, and strong presence. Traits vary by author and fandom.
Beta
Beta is commonly depicted as a middle dynamic — neither dominant nor submissive in hierarchy. Betas may be practical, social, or emotionally steady depending on the story.
Omega
Omega is frequently portrayed as a dynamic linked to emotional depth, nesting instincts, and sensitivity in fictional settings. Interpretations differ widely.
A/B/O
Short for Alpha/Beta/Omega — a fictional secondary-gender or dynamic framework used in fan fiction and creative writing, not a real biological classification.
Dynamic
The relational role or energy a character expresses within Omegaverse fiction — often described as Alpha, Beta, Omega, or other fan-created categories.
Secondary gender
A fandom term for the A/B/O classification alongside a character's primary gender. It is fictional world-building, not a medical concept.
Scent
In many Omegaverse stories, characters have a fictional scent profile used as a symbolic or narrative device. Our quiz assigns scents for entertainment only.
Pheromones
A fictional element in some Omegaverse works where characters respond to each other's scent or presence. Real-world pheromone science is separate from this fandom usage.
Nest / Nesting
A comfort space characters build in fiction — often associated with Omegas seeking safety, warmth, and emotional grounding.
Enigma
An optional fan-created category for characters who don't fit standard A/B/O labels. Not all Omegaverse fiction includes Enigmas.
Soft Alpha
A fan term for Alphas portrayed as protective and confident without being controlling or aggressive.
Dominant Alpha
A fictional Alpha archetype emphasizing authority, control, and strong leadership in hierarchy-focused stories.
Heat
A fictional narrative device in some Omegaverse works. Explanations vary; it is part of fan fiction tropes, not real biology.
